Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association came into existence in the year 2005 and within a record time its shooters have excelled by winning 18 medals which includes 8 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze in various nationals held by National Rifle Association of India(NRAI).

J&K Rifle Association is an affiliated unit of NRAI and Jammu & Kashmir Olympic Association and recognized by J&K State Sports Counsel and have more than 300 male and female registered shooters from across the state.

At present JKRA has following associations and clubs registered with it in J&K State:-

10 J&K Police District Shooting Clubs.

Aims and Objectives:

Our aim is to encourage the art and science of marksmanship throughout the Jammu and Kashmir State, particularly among the civil population as a healthy sport,as mentioned below:-
  • To educate and train citizens in the safe and efficient handling of arms.
  • To encourage the establishment of and to regulate the activities of affiliated, District Rifle Shooting Associations and Rifle Shooting Clubs throughout Jammu and Kashmir and to co-ordinate and control their activities through their respective Associations.
  • To encourage, organize and regulate State/National Shooting Championship Competitions in marksmanship between teams and / or individuals in the state, and where feasible, not less than two competitions annually may be organised for specified age groups at the junior and sub-junior levels.These competitions may be organised through District units at the state Level.
  • To make arrangements for training instructors through the National Rifle Association of India in India and abroad so as to organise courses of training of civilians in marksmanship with the help of trained instructors.
  • To encourage legislation for the establishment and maintenance of suitable ranges.
  • To apply for and obtain Government grants for securing cheaper and better arms, ammunition, shooting equipment and other accessories and expansion of shooting activities of all kinds and for organizing both State and National Shooting Competitions.
  • To publish and issue magzines periodicals and pamphelts to conduct and organise lectures, etc for furthering the aims and objects of the JKRA.
  • To Build, construct, maintain and develop ranges.
  • To make improvement and to afford expansion of target range facilities operated by shooting, clubs and by the Government Organisations.
  • To co-ordinate Inter-District activities in respect of marksmanship in all respects including the holding of Inter-District tournaments and to organise State/National Competitions and other Championship Tournaments.
  • To select teams to represent Jammu and Kashmir for Nationals.
